DABANGG 2 is a typical Bollywood film. It’s the kind of cinema we relished in the 1980s and enjoy to this date, but narrated in today’s lingo and format. It may/may not make sense to you, but Arbaaz and team ensure that you are entertained. Thoroughly entertained, actually. It’s riotous, outrageous, wacky, ambitious, absolutely madcap, transports you to an altogether different world. For those who adore masala movies, celebrate mainstream cinema, relish the cinema of yore and of course, hero-worship Salman Khan, DABANGG 2 is your ticket this festive season. On the whole, DABANGG 2 has Salman Khan, Salman Khan and Salman Khan + Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment in large doses. The film has the masala to work big time with the masses. This one will rewrite the rules of the game and the festive occasion [Christmas and New Year] will aid its potential. Sure shot Blockbuster!

Dabangg 2 is Salman Khan in the flesh, as raw as he can get and just as corny. The new and improved version is still that lovable Robinhood man in uniform, with several moments of heightened Kung-Fu Pandey-ness thrown in to pepper up the proceedings. ‘Dabangg 2’ could’ve just as easily turned into a hotch potch of Bollywood action and kitsch, much like the recently released ‘Khiladi 786’, but Arbaaz somehow manages to restrain himself and Chulbul, which is by no means an easy task. Having said that, one can only see the cash registers ringing for ‘Dabangg 2’ in the coming weeks. If it beats the record of its first outing, we wouldn’t be surprised. This Kung Fu Pandey at his best. Credit here goes to director Arbaaz and the writers, who take a shallow film like ‘Dabangg 2’ and transform it into a wholesome watch, with pockets of emotional quotient and depth to its characters and relationships.

For a fan of the star in question, all that matters is whether the star seems to be having fun. In which case Dabanng 2 is just the ticket, since Salman looks to be having the time of his life. The film itself is better than the original -- or, to word it differently, is less unwatchable. And yet it has absolutely nothing new to offer, and nothing to remember, quote or take away from the theatre.
Oh, and there is one decent line -- one referring to Chulbul as Kung Fu Panday -- but, quite like the time we spend watching this film, it's a throwaway.

Dabangg: Worked due to its unabashed admiration for the ’70s masala fillum and ability to recreate the formula in a contemporary set-up, maa ka badla and bhai ka pyaar et al.
Dabangg 2: Rehashes Dabangg itself, finding comfort in the formula rather than using it as a tool to entertain. Follows Singham and Khiladi 786, which tried hard to recreate Dabangg magic without being as successful. In other words, it’s wannabe-Dabangg.

The film is dependent on Salman Khan and his superstar status and satisfactory acting save the day for it. No one other than Salman gets ample opportunities to showcase their skills. Dialogue-baazi helps in setting the mood. The music of the film is average but Fevicol se works well. Dabangg2 is all about entertainment. If you liked the first part then you will like this for sure. The film is well packaged. Robinhood Pandey returns in style. Recommended.
Salman Khan has reached a position where he doesn't need to bother about the number game, so he will be leaving no stone unturned to match up to the expectations of his fans. The antics of Chulbul Pandey will be the highlight of 'Dabangg 2'.

When it comes to assessing Salman’s performance, all could be said is that he is the show stealer here and deserves applause for his mind blowing and effortless action scenes. He plays the bad-ass-cop-with-a-golden heart attitude with élan. Salman has proved with the ‘Dabangg’ series that he was and will always be an undisputed iron man of Hindi cinema. Period.
‘Dabangg’ was directed by a well-honed Abhinav Kashyap which did superbly at the box office. So there were bound to be expectations from Arbaaz too. But the actor cum director has kept the standards of the film intact like a pro. So much so that it was hard to believe that a newbie in film making has directed the film.
So, go on and book your ticket to enjoy this paisa vasool film with your friends and family and don’t forget to grab a tub of pop corn!

It seems unfair to devote a whole review to Arbaaz Khan's "Dabbang 2", given that this is hardly a film. As a friend said, its a collection of deleted scenes from "Dabbang" that have been put together haphazardly to make the skeleton of a film.
Just as Salman Khan makes no pretence about acting, brother Arbaaz Khan makes no pretence about directing. "Dabbang 2" is an endless sequence of comedy-song-fight-romance. I can almost imagine the director mentally counting the time elapsed between a fight sequence and a song. A half-hour into the film, I could tell which was next, irrespective of whether it made sense.

All said and done, the cliches work because of the phenomenon called Salman Khan. Take him away and the film will look as flat as a bottle of soda left too long in the sun. He keeps the fizz going through his boundless energy and makes sure you not only have your full money’s worth but will sign up for more before leaving the theatre. The ending hints at another sequel so stock up on the popcorn.
Dabangg 2 is a fanboy’s dream and wouldn’t disappoint the first comer either.

It’s problematic of course that the hero is an openly corrupt police officer, although committed to his own strange convoluted form of social justice, and a complete chauvinist at that. It’s also problematic that the choreography of 'Fevicol' and 'Pandeyji Seeti', although striking, would make even 'Munni' hide in self-conscious shame. Prakash Raj and Deepak Dobriyal, two of our most interesting actors, are completely wasted in lackluster roles.
However, apna Salman returns in top form and cheer and really, that’s what will delight diehard fans.

So, the obvious question: is Dabangg 2 really twice as nice as the original action flick that made giant waves in 2010? Well, for one, the follow-up has been mounted on a far more lavish scale: its budget is nearly double that of the precursor.
This film might also end up raking in a much larger box office booty than Dabangg did. But assessed strictly as a pure entertainer designed for instant mass gratification, it isn’t half as successful.
But make no mistake. Dabangg 2 is every inch of the way the critic-proof film that it is meant to be. No matter how many holes you might spot in its uncomplicated, wafer-thin narrative edifice, Bollywood’s most bankable megastar's onscreen deeds, at a bit of a stretch, would serve to paper over all of them.

I’ll go with 2.5 stars for this completely masala entertainment. Don’t expect the same magic of Dabangg; just enter the theatres for bindass Chulbul Pandey.

Dabangg 2 is not meant to make sense! It's only meant to entertain. If you are a Chulbul Pandey fan, go and enjoy your annual dose of Salman Khan, else give it BIG ignore. Dabangg 2 will be loved by the masses, but not the classes. Though the movie has nothing extraordinary to provide, yet, people might relish it if they only keep their brains away while watching the movie!

What’s Bad: The convenient story; the forced father-son & Mahie-Arbaaz trajectories; the whole feel like a wannabe clone of Dabangg; the irritating product placements.
Watch or Not?: Watch it for Chulbul back in his game and if you’re a fan of Salman.

To sum it up, Dabangg 2 encashes two brands completely - Salman Khan and Dabangg itself. The film works more for the actor than for the film itself. A feast for the superstar's fans and a one-time watch for the rest.

Instead of etching out a story with a new stock of emotions and a screenplay that delights (don’t take a bow Dilip Shukla), someone seems to have sat down and made a checklist of what the sequel must contain, based only on what appealed in the original.
Despite all this, it would have helped had there been smarter writing to aid the many action scenes. Actually, ‘as expected’ is the key expression here – nothing is a surprise.
With a frame in the end titles hinting at a third Dabangg with Chhedi Singh’s brother, Arbaaz would do well to take the series forward the next time around with a sparkling new story, like Rakesh Roshan does with his Krrish sequels.
Watch it if you are a hardcore Salman Khan admirer and a Brand Dabangg loyalist!

Abhinav Kashyap’s Dabangg (2010), while a huge commercial success too, was still different. It was a film that was liked by audiences outside of the super-star’s worshippers. Unlike in the past, Salman played a character, rather than only himself. The film had a definite setting and it was in equal parts a self-aware spoof and sizzling entertainment. This explains the sequel.
Within two years, that same film has roughly been remade by Akshay Kumar (Rowdy Rathor, Khiladi 786) and by Ajay Devgn once (Singham). Dabangg 2 is relatively better than those movies but it hardly compares with the original.
As prophecied, if the world did come to an end on the day of the film’s release (December 21, 2012), you’d feel like a moron spending the last day on planet earth filling your mind and lowering your IQ with rubbish like this. Otherwise, you’d feel just fine, surrounded by Sallu’s bhakts who were probably in the theatre knowing that their super-hero in fact would save the world for them. He does. And yeah, like any other faith, this kind of idol worship is really hard to explain.

Dabangg 2 was supposed to be an absurd, raunchy masala movie, and it is, but not a good one. The excuse that it’s not supposed to be an intelligent film doesn’t work here because there is a tact into being the leave-your-brains-at-home movie and Arbaaz Khan’s directorial debut fails to be that. Very rarely do Hindi movies get a sequel, and Dabangg 2 is exactly the reason why.
