READY MOVIE REVIEWS

Samay Live <4/5>

The film READY is remake of superhit Telugu film READY, which had full dose of humour and commercial cinema.

Ready Movie review
Ready has everything what a commercial film needs. The songs of film, ‘Character Dheela’ and ‘Dhnka Chika’ are already topped the chart.

To know the hilarious attempts by Prem and Sanjana to teach her mamas lesions, you will have to book the ticket.

Overall, the movie is good family entertainer.

READY is a full-on entertainer, a paisa vasool film that has just one motive -- entertainment -- and it succeeds in its endeavor absolutely. On the whole, READY is strictly for the masses and for those who relish typically formulaic masala entertainers. The film prides itself with super music ['Character Dheela' and 'Dhinka Chika'], gags and gimmicks aplenty and of course, Salman Khan, the beloved of the masses and the mainstay of this film. If you hero-worship Salman, you cannot afford to miss this one. Even if you don't hero-worship him, watch READY as a stress-busting therapy that makes you smile, laugh and break into guffaws in those two hours.

Ready should have just been called: Salman Khan. The film is essentially a one-man show by an actor, who doesn’t act. How much you enjoy Ready is directly proportionate to your affection for Salman and cheerfully cheesy, low-brow humour. Thankfully, Ready isn’t in the same soul-sucking category as director Anees Bazmee’s last two movies: Thank You and No Problem. But it still falls very much into his special brand of brain-dead, anything-for-a-laugh comedy.Ready made me laugh sporadically but beyond a point I could almost feel my brain cells shrinking and exhaustion setting in, one joke at a time. I’m going with two stars.

Ready isn't a tribute to Salman Khan. It's a vehicle which showcases the 'Best of Salman' one has seen over the last twenty years. It entertains in bits; the song Character Dheela Hai and Dhinka Chika will stay on top of the charts for a while. Some crisp one-liners, too but they are few and far between. For the greater part, the gags in Ready are stale and the humor remains contrived. In the meantime …if the absence of a convincing storyline isn't a deterrent and you go ballistic every time Sallu baba appears on screen then this is perfect weekend viewing for you.

While the first half largely revolves around Prem’s shenanigans, it comes packed with predictable jokes and innuendo. Ready is mindless but entertaining in parts. Expectations from the film were high considering the last film that featured the star was a blockbuster. Ready isn't a patch on Salman’sWanted or Dabangg in terms of entertainment value. For Bazmee however,Ready is a vast improvement since his last film Thank You.If you're a Sallu fan, you won’t feel let down.

However, the storyline disappoints, giving glimpses of Salman’s yesteryears movie ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’. There are few funny moments and a pretty decent showcase in the first half but second part is a major disappointment with unnecessarily dragging storyline.Salman, Salman and Salman’s songs act like a lifeline for the film. The storyline is predictable, and that too stretched a bit too long. We won’t recommend you to buy a ticket unless you are a Dabangg fan of Salman.

What’s Good: The comedy post-interval; the music; Salman Khan and Paresh Rawal’s acting; the emotional under-current of the comical drama. What’s Bad:The ordinary first half.Verdict: READY will score at the box-office, thanks to a great start, super-hit music, Salman Khan and entertainment in a good dose.Loo break: Not really.Watch or not?: Yes, if you want to be entertained. On the whole, Ready has taken a flying start from North to South and East to West and, in addition, it has masala to keep the masses and the family audiences entertained and happy.

"Dhinka Chika" will surely win enough whistles and "Character Dheela" will leave many gasping. But if you're expecting a laugh-a-thon, then you're in the wrong movie. Salman gives in his 10 percent and packages it off with 200% confidence and style. Asin could surely get a chance to dub for the next Chip 'n' Dale film, in case her acting career doesn't fall in place.

When you exit this film, there will be little you will take away from it, apart from Salman's pocket-fiddling and bum rubbing dance moves. But then if Anees Bazmee was interested in making meaningful cinema, he would've demonstrated the same in "No Entry", "Welcome" or "Thank You". How about, "No, Thank You" for his next multi-starrer-no-brainer?
